The Group which consists of well trained, experienced musicians has been performing for more than ten years at the highest level in Barbados. The band comprises vocals, instrumentalist, keyboards, Bass and drums. However it can be augmented to suit the needs of the specific event. About Paul A. Thorne Paul A. Thorne is a seasoned, multi-talented musician with approximately twenty (20) years in the music business. He has been In 1995, Paul A. Thorne formed his own band which he named ‘The Ultimate Groove’, because of his versatility and that of the other members whom he was able to bring together. The band continues to grow stronger and stronger and has a reputation of being the most versatile band in Barbados. To date, Paul A. Thorne has two CDs: ‘Moods’, which was a bold step, since it seeks to showcase the trumpet as a smooth, soothing instrument; and ‘Friends’, a CD that gives the public a sample of his writing and arranging skills and also features the band ‘Ultimate Groove’. In 2006, Paul A. Thorne partnered with his wife Andrea Marie and they started their own Music Education and Entertainment Services company called Music For Life. Through that business they published their first book and are currently working on publishing their second and writing their third. Significant Performances: Barbados Music Awards ‘Best Jazz Single’, Barbados Tourism Awards ‘Excellence In Entertainment’. Black Orchid (teenage group); Secret Force; Barbados & Caribbean Song Festival Bands; Barbados Festival Band; Barbados and Grenada Jazz Festivals (1999); Barbados Jazz Festival (2000); African singer Lorraine Klaasen 2006; several Crop Over Calypso Tents from 1982 to present. Recordings: Debut CD: ‘MOODS’ released in 2003; Second CD entitled ‘FRIENDS’ - Paul A. Thorne & the Ultimate Groove; Numerous Crop Over recordings.
A multitalented musician, Andrea Marie has been singing for most of her life, but has been a professional musician for more than fifteen (15) years. She has worked with such people as Roger Gittens; Margaret Bovell; John King; Anthony ‘The Mighty Gabby’ Carter; Carolyn ‘Tassa’ Forde; Andrea Marie currently tutors children and adults in Piano and Voice, while helping her husband run their business, as well as keeping up her performance commitments. Significant Performances: Barbados Music Awards ‘Best Jazz Single’, Barbados Tourism Awards ‘Excellence In Entertainment’; 2001 Barbados Song Festival Finalist; Sine Nomine, 1st. Soprano (2002); Guest Vocalist – Methodist Gospel Choir, 1st. Soprano (2002); Cavite Chorale, 1st. Soprano (1991 – 1993); Vocalist singing on the Hotel Circuit at various Establishments; Vocalist singing at various shows, concerts, weddings & funerals (1989 – Present); Private Tutor in Voice, Piano – Beginner’s & Music Theory, (2002 – Present); Private Tutor for National Cultural Foundation (NCF) for a special youth program – tutoring Voice (2002 – 2005); Lead Vocalist / Co-manager of ‘Ultimate Groove’, Co-owner of Music For Life (2006 – present). Paul A. Thorne & ‘The Ultimate Groove’, the islands most versatile band has an extensive repertoire suitable for any occasion.
performing with various groups from the age of 17, having received his early musical training at The Combermere School, one of the leading secondary schools in Barbados, then later, in the Barbados Boy Scout Band. Paul, during the early eighties, joined the Barbados Regiment Band (the musical, performing arm of the Barbados Defense Force) where he served for about three years. Throughout the eighties and nineties he played saxophone and/or trumpet in many different bands and groups which ranged from Classical to Jazz to Calypso. Having a burning desire to further develop his musical skills, he enrolled in the Barbados Community College, Fine Arts Division, where he gained an Associate Degree in Music (with Merit). Playing and performing has always been Paul’s first love but as is his personality, he has always wanted to do more and therefore began teaching both privately and in some secondary schools. 
Adrian ‘Boo’ Husbands & Paul A. Thorne (her husband), to name a few, who are all top musicians and performers in Barbados. She earned an Associate Degree in Music, Majoring in Voice. She has trained voices for the Youth Achieving Results program which is run by the National Cultural Foundation and the Ministry of Education, as well as a number of Church groups. She and her husband own their own music education and entertainment services business called Music For Life and have already written and published their first music education book and are presently working on publishing their second and writing their third. She performs on the hotel circuit and at private functions, weddings and funerals. Andrea and Paul, as the lead members of the band Ultimate Groove, were nominated for a Barbados Music Award for their recording of “Feel Like Making Love” and the group won a Barbados Music Award for ‘Best Jazz Single’ for an original composition, “Friends”. The group has also won a Barbados Tourism Authority Award for ‘Excellence in Entertainment’.
